BIG BLUE "M" DESIGN CONTEST
THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
Designs "B" & "E"  tied for first place with 80* votes each,
Design "C" placed third with 67 votes, D had 51 and A had 26 supporters
Art students at John Marshall High School submitted the 5 designs below  for a tile mosaic that will replace the painted "M" at the corner of St. George Street and Griffith Park Blvd. The public then voted via e-mail and postcard. We had over 300 votes including e-mails from Europe & Asia. Cost estimates are now being sought to turn the designs into tile, but no work on the project can start until work is completed on enlarging the Marshall athletic field. *Alas many of those who voted did not follow the contest rules which required the letter for the selected designs be in the subject line of the e-mail to make counting votes easier. Since there was a tie for first place in the final tally it may it may be appropriate for contest judges to look at the number of entries which complied with the rules in determining which mural design becomes reality.
Thanks to the artists for their designs and to all of those who participated in the voting.
